Overview

This patch should already be present in stock Linux kernels 2.6.26 and later. It modifies Dmitri's original ibmcam driver for Linux to improve support for the IBM PC Camera Pro, and may also offer improved support for other models classified by the driver as 'Model 3', such as the IBM PC Camera Pro Max.

The patch:

• is available here.
• has been tested with Linux versions 2.6.0, 2.6.1, and 2.6.2.
• assumes YUV encoding, since this is what the usbvideo.h header file provides, but similar encoding schemes, such as YIQ and YCbCr, are also possible.
• does not add support for compressed video modes. This establishes a frame rate upper bound less than 14fps at 320x240, and less than 4fps at 640x480. Adjusting the 'framerate' parameter may be useful. E.g., 'modprobe ibmcam framerate=4'.
